Hello everyone and welcome to a new post for this post. This is probably the last post for this month. And I want to talk about an interesting topic. It’s about blog vs vlog and which blogging or vlogging can earn you better. By the end of this post, you will be able to decide which one to choose. Also, how can you use both to earn money at the same time?
You will learn much more about this. If you find it helpful. Please make sure to share it with a friend because I would appreciate it a lot and means a lot to me. I’m going to share information about vlogs and blogs. Also, the difference in content and which one is the best for you.
blog vs vlog: blogging or vlogging is better for earning
I’m sure many of us already know both. However, I’m going to mention this guide on video content and written content. This is something I struggled to decide on. But because my passion was for blogging more. That is what made me continue to be a blogger and I’ve made some videos before as well with some of my friends. Therefore, I know a lot about both and even I kept track of every update on both blogging, vlogging terms, and updates.
If your passion is one of them, that is great. It would be easy for you to know which one to choose. I remember some people said you can’t make money from blogging because it’s dead. However, they said you can make money from YouTube and video content. Well, I’m assuming it’s easy to say that because videos are more entertaining and found by many people than blogs.
Q: Can you explain to me what blogging and vlogging are?
A: If you have this question. Well, I’m glad to explain to you more. Blogging is writing and publishing written content. Vlogging is a term for making video content and sharing it on video-sharing platforms such as YouTube, and Dailymotion. Both ways can make money and they are fun to do but what you should choose? Keep reading to know the answer. Both need content creation for sure.
I would to mention some good quotes that can help you in the journey. Since both need content and these are content creations related quotes

FYI
Please know vlogging is video content when using the camera to record yourself. Either talking or doing life stuff. I know there are many video content types. And I was confused as well to determine what is a vlog and what is not. However, I used to hear people saying I will make a vlog today.
It used to be so famous that so many huge YouTubers were uploading daily but now it’s less than before. I will mention the main difference between the blog and the vlog. Especially, what makes the most money when you are looking for a way to make money and make a living out of it.
Note: At the end of this post, I will mention the common things that are required for both. No matter what you do, these are common things you need to have them. That can help you with your journey and be ready before you struggle a lot in the stages of your growth.
Blogging

I’m going to break it down to make it easier for you to understand both. And I will start with blogging since it’s my passion and something that I loves doing. Well, before you know the difference between the two. You need to know what you need to get started. As it’s a big part of the first steps.
- You will need to have a website
This can be obvious to everyone that blogging will require a website. And you need to make sure that you have a good website. Because nowadays is one of most important requirement. Ensure to develop or find good templates which can people find easy to navigate through. The website contains content and topics to talk about, are blogs.

- Write High-quality content for your audience
Having a blog as a hobby is not required to have high-quality content. However, making the most money will require you to write high-quality content. Especially, nowadays there are many blogs and many just starting their journey as bloggers. So, make sure to pay attention to this.
As these are two main things to have to earn money. There are many small and extra things that can help you to earn more money using blogging. However, I could talk about that in another separate post. I’m going to focus mainly on the differences between the two. I can answer questions if you have one.
- Need a good blogging platform
- Ensure the website is fast
- Try to focus on SEO
- Get grammar tools
- Inspect broken links
I could go on and on about this. And I have many posts about this and even YouTube videos. Which can help you to make money making video content. But the list above I just mentioned are a few things that are necessary to help you with your blogging journey.
Vlogging

When talking about vlogs and making video content. You need to have a few things to help you make content. And you need to know what content makes the most money. I will come to the main difference between both. However, I need to mention what you need for earning money from vlogging.
- Make sure to have set up properly channel
Well, thinking to start earning money? You will need a channel and I’m talking about YouTube. Because that’s the only way many people use to make money from video content. And although it’s free you will need to make money from your videos. Therefore, you will need to be patient.

- High-quality videos and over 10 minutes
This is one of the differences between the both. Blogging vlogging has many differences things. But blogging will require written content. You will need to make sure to have good videos. There is another thing in vlogging that you will need and that would be videos over 10 minutes.
- Have good editing skills
At least nowadays, it’s easy for bloggers to edit written content using tools like Grammarly. However, video content needs your editing skills to make really good vlogs. And you need to learn how to edit. I’m not sure if there are any AI right now that can help you to edit good videos.

Making money from video content also requires additional things and tools. I will mention them to you. However, I highly recommend that you look more and do thorough research about it. Because that would be worth it. Something that you need to have good quality content.
- Focus on SEO and using TubeBuddy
- Have good editing videos tools
- Understand the monetization for YouTube.
- Collaborate with people to grow an audience (this work with blogging as well)
As this post is not only about making money on YouTube. The list above does help you with growing your channel and help you to earn money. Especially, SEO nowadays is very important. Therefore, you need to make sure to focus on optimizing. You might think it’s only for blogging but also for vlogging as well.
blog vs vlog and the difference in earning money
Here is the important part of this post. You will need to know this before you decide to focus on blogging or vlogging. Because it’s important to know them. As they will help you to achieve your goal which is earning money. Although both can earn money here is the difference.
Blogging
- You have more than two ways to earn money (ad networks, sponsorships, affiliates, selling products)
- Optimization for increasing earnings is not limited
- More control over ads and placement
- Variety of payment methods for bloggers
- The threshold to start earning money can be used due to many ad networks)
I know there are more but the most important ones are what I mentioned. And this is not to mention blogging is better than vlogging or the opposite way. However, this just allows you to know more about both ways and earn the most money from either way that you decide to do. The first part of the blog vs vlog and things about blogging.

Vloggig
- Not many ways to earn money (One ad network (Adsense), sponsorships, affiliates, selling products)
- Editing to increase earnings is limited to impossible
- Not much control over ads and placement
- The threshold to make money is not as easy
Here is vlogging and not to mention you have to wait if you want to earn from the ad network. However, if you are starting for affiliate or sponsorship. You may start earning money from that and make it your way of living. As you can see the difference between the two and you can decide.

FYI
You can earn money making videos such as animated videos, gaming, stream clips, etc… If you don’t want to start a vlogging YouTube channel.
The common things for blog vs vlog
I also want to mention the common things that are required which can be important for you to start earning money. And it’s what needed to get in nowadays updates and terms. So, let’s see what are the common things that any blogger or vlogger will need to earn money.
- Make sure to be patient while you work your way
- Never start for free if you want to earn money level
- You need to have great equipment and tools to help you
- Content that pays more can help you to reach your goals
Well, there are also many things that we need to know and it’s common for either blogging or vlogging. These are some of the main things. And hopefully, they can help you in your journey to success in owning a website or YouTube channel. Earning money path is different from doing it as a hobby or passion.
Conclusion of a blog vs vlog: blogging or vlogging is better for earning.

Love this! I think both absolutely have their place. Videos are definitely scarier but a great way for people to feel more involved!
Right? It seems much more work than blogging haha.
I’ve never considered vlogging and I don’t think I’d have the patience to create such long videos! What about TikTok though? I know it’s only micro-vlogging but I think the earning opportunities may be easier and higher on here? What do you think?
Well, TikTok is good but don’t pay a lot. Many content creators complain about the payouts.
I love how you explain the differences between blogging and vlogging as well as how you can use them to make income. I am in the process of figuring out whether I want to start doing video or not and this article gives great insight to that question. I look forward to reading more articles!
I’m glad I explained it well. Thank you for reading and sharing your thoughts!
In general, I think it’s safe to say YouTubers make more revenue, but I prefer writing to speaking on camera.
I guess you can say that but it requires more effort and time.
????????
Thank you for your support!
I post videos on YouTube, but don’t consider myself a Vlogger. But thank you for differentiating between blogging and vologging; It is informative.
Even though they share the same concept, I think Vloggers have the potential to makes more money than Bloggers.
Well, at a certain level it does make money more but needs a longer time. Thank you for reading!
I find there are definitely benefits to both. I like blogging because I can do it without makeup or even brushing my hair (lol) but I know I would do well in a vlog as well. I’ve been meaning to do some of that but again, makeup and hair brushing…
Haha, that’s awesome. I agree vlogging needs more work and effort. But I’m sure you look pretty and no need for anything.
Definitely depends on your preferences, great tips..
It does depend on what you want.
I am camera-shy so I haven’t tried much vlogging. Which do you prefer?
Well, I prefer blogging if you want don’t want. Maybe try voice-only videos. Can be a good way as well.
Thank you for this comparison. I love my blogs, as writing is my passion. But I’m also enjoying making video content.
Thank you for reading and sharing your thoughts!
It would be nice to have both of them as a source of income. Although I only have a blog I’m also interested in vlogging.
Yup, it would be cool to have two ways to earn money. That’s awesome!
A great comparison here. Both are great ways to make money but I would prefer blogging because I like writing. I guess it also depends on someone’s skills.
Thank you for reading and sharing your feedback on this. Thank you for reading!
Your posts are always so in depth and really cover the topic perfectly. This one is another great post on blogging vs. vlogging. Thank you for all your great information.
Haha, thank you so much!! I appreciate you reading and sharing your thought about it,
I have a both a blog and a travel vlogging channel so I found this very interesting to read. Thanks for sharing !
Yeah, you are amazing content as well!
Great post! I personally enjoy both, but I do feel that blogging is easier. Filming and editing can take a lot of time but I guess it depends on your niche.
That’s awesome! Thank you so much for reading and sharing your thoughts!
I produce more blog content overall but I also like making and watching Youtube shorts.
That’s awesome. Hope you are enjoying doing them.
So interesting! I considered vlogging before but went with blogging, and based on this I am glad I did 🙂
I see, that’s awesome that you chose to blog. Thank you for reading!
I believe vlogging makes more money these days. It’s because most people prefer to watching and listening rather than reading. I need to overcome my camera shy problem first before I can be a vlogger. Hahaha!!!
Hahaha, well, it has more people watching indeed. I’m sure it will be easy for you to overcome it.
Vlogers certainly have a better earning potential, but it’s just not something I’m interested in doing. Happy to keep my face from the world
Thank you for reading and sharing your thoughts!
Great post. I’ve been considering vlogging for a while, but know it is time consuming and need to learn more skills first. Hopefully this will lead to a hybrid of the both though as blogging will always have my heart!
Thank you for reading and sharing your thoughts about this.
I am not comfortable on camera, so blogging is better for me. Informative article, thanks!
Ah, I see. That’s cool blogging is better for you.
I am still to venture into vlogging though I have given it serious thought many times.. I really want to get to it this year and it also makes me get out of my comfort zone which I should attempt..
I hope you get started. It would be amazing if you get it done.
Very helpful information, I have been considering adding some vlogs and learning more about how they work with monetization. Thank you for taking the time to share this
Great, god that you are learning. Thank you for reading!

Ah yes! Currently, I am a blogger but I look forward to the day I start my vlog! For now, it’s still expensive in my mind but I still pursue it, non-the-less!
Well, I’m sure you will get there. It’s going to be fun doing both.
I have never tried vlogging but it sounds really interesting. I would like to try vlogging.
It’s fun and if you do, you can share how is your experience.
Both can be fun. However, SEO is king and so is written content. Great explaining the differences though
Yeah, both are fun and both need SEO nowadays haha. Thank you for reading!
Great post breaking down all the differences! I’d love to vlog one day but it requires such technical skills with editing, audio and visual that I don’t possess. Such a talented niche!
Thank you so much for reading and sharing your thoughts!
One day I wouldn’t mind trying the vlogging thing! A little more nerve wracking for sure though. I like that you took the time to compare the two. Thank you!
Yeah, I hope you can do it. Please do let us know how your experience is when you do it. Thank you for reading and sharing your thoughts!
Vlogging seems way more intimidating. I’m working on making craft videos to add to my blog and 10 minutes is hard to achieve.
Ah, I see. Well, it is difficult but I’m sure you got this.
Everyone does seem to be leaning towards video today. I still like the writing better, but I’m a bit old fashioned, to be sure.
Right? So many people doing streams and video content. That’s awesome that you enjoy writing more.
Great post. I have a passion for blogging also and I love to read blogs and watch vlogs. I like that both bring something fun and different. Good job of explaining the differences. It was helpful!
Well, I love watching vlogs as well. But I don’t think I would enjoy doing it. Thank you for reading!
Vlogging sounds like a whole lot of work is comparison to blogging. Not that I’m saying blogging isn’t work because it absolutely is. But the extra equipment and time required with vlogging feels overwhelming. Maybe later I will change my mind but for now I’ll stick with blogging.
I agree, both require work but vlogging will require more. Because of the editing and everything.
Interesting post! I think vlogging is so cool, but I don’t like being on camera. Thanks for the information on the difference between blogging and vlogging.
Yeah, being on camera will require a lot of effort. Thank you for reading and sharing your feedback!
This was a really interesting post, I have been considering vlogging and now I might just try it out.
I’m glad you found interesting post. Thank you for reading and sharing your thoughts!
Although I have a YouTube channel where I occasionally do vlogging, I still prefer maintaining my blog/website and adding my videos from various social such as YouTube, IG, or TikTok. I earn more on blogging than vlogging.
I see, it’s cool to focus on blogging. And I agree, it could earn you more than vlogging.
I think both are great ways of making money online but vlogging seems to be more time-consuming. I prefer blogging all the way.
A great comparison here. Both are great ways to make money but I would prefer blogging because I like writing. I guess it also depends on someone’s skills.
I think they both have their benefits, just depends on where your talents are and what you prefer to do. I’m rubbish in front of a camera so I wouldn’t start YT.
Yeah, some people love to follow whatever make money.
I am what you call a faceless vlogger, I’m just new to it, and subscribers are rising, but can’t say much yet. However, I’m already comfortable blogging. I want to work towards monetization. Let’s see what happens. Thanks for this post- it has me comparing.
Haha, that’s good one. Well, good job and you doing good. Thank you for sharing that with us.
I’m already comfortable blogging. I want to work towards monetization. Let’s see what happens. Thanks for this post- it has me comparing.
That’s cool and hope you succeed.
It would be nice to have both of them as a source of income. Although I only have a blog I’m also interested in vlogging.
Those are all really interesting points there, but I find that vlogging and blogging both have their pros and cons and old school writing is the way for me.
Thank you for reading and sharing your thoughts about it.
I enjoyed reading your breakdown of the difference between blogging and vlogging and how you can make money with them. Depending on your audience, how you want to reach them, and your goals, either could work for you. I thought about vlogging, and I may look into that one day!
I’m glad you enjoyed reading about it. Thank you for reading and sharing your feedback!
This was such an informative post- thanks for sharing! I think you can earn similar amounts of money both ways.
I appreciate you reading and commenting on it. Thank you for reading!
Absolutely, I can’t agree more. Both have equal places.
Thank you so much!
i think blogging takes much work than vlogging. but vlogging is also scarier at first.
Yeah, but both can different work and might be heavier than the other one.
Thank you so much for breaking it up for us. There is so much information to learn. For now, I’m still learning about blogging and am kind of confortable. At the moment, I dont have the guts yet for vlogging hehehe. I really liked the 2 quotes you used also.
I appreciate you reading and commenting. Thank you for your lovely feedback!
Interesting post. A friend of mine abandoned her blog after finding more success on YouTube. She has over 100k subscribers now (in 3 years) without any paid promo, and gets a lot of top notch brand collaborations.. Whichever route you choose, you need to have a quality product and be very determined.
