You’re so tired of waxing and shaving to get rid of those pesky hairs on your face and body that you finally decided that it’s time to get a laser in Wollongong.

But since this is your first time to do laser hair removal, you don’t know exactly what to do before your appointment. Don’t worry because we got you covered with these tips:

Stay out of the sun

If you’re planning to undergo hair laser removal, cancel your beach trips and outdoor activities at least a week before your appointment.

This is because you can’t do laser on tanned or sunburnt skin since it would cause irritation and make the treatment less effective. Avoid sun exposure even if you’re wearing sunscreen and do the same a few days after laser treatment.

Shave the area where you’re getting laser hair removal

Yes, you’re getting hair removed, but that doesn’t mean that you’ll go into your appointment without shaving.

In fact, it’s advisable that you shave the area where you’re getting hair removed at least 1-2 days before your laser removal and exfoliate it properly to get rid of any dead skin that might affect the efficiency of your treatment.

However, never wax or pluck the area for at least a month before your appointment because your skin will be extra sensitive during the treatment.

Be mindful of the skincare products that you use

Laser hair removal works by targeting laser light into your skin to keep the hair follicles from growing. So if you have extra photosensitive skin, there’s a higher risk for it to get burned during laser treatment.

This is why it’s very important to avoid products that contain salicylic acid, retinol, and benzoyl peroxide since they will make your skin more prone to burns when treated with laser.

In fact, it’s best to avoid using any products at least two days before your treatment and wait up to three days before resuming your regular skincare routine.

Choose your clothes wisely

Finally, it’s very important to choose your clothes wisely on the day of your appointment. It’s best to wear clothes that are loose-fitting and breathable to avoid irritation in the area where you’re getting laser hair removal.

For instance, if you’re treating the bikini area, it’s best to go for cotton underwear and wide-legged trousers to give your skin a chance to breathe.
